Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the group enter areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Audiences can anticipate learning which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
